My Mongolia

This week I visited Mongolia for the first time to take part in the programme of Mongolia Tourism Week in Ulaanbaatar

Despite the unexpected challenges starting right from the UK—where my flight was abruptly cancelled—I made it, thanks to quick arrangements and a subsequent flight from London to Frankfurt. Catching my connecting flight to Ulaanbaatar on MIAT Mongolian Airlines was a delight; the new Boeing was exceptionally comfortable with stellar service. I’m profoundly grateful to Mongolian Airlines for making this dream a reality.

A week before the event in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia’s weather added a twist with a snowstorm and sandstorm, but the spirits remained high at Tourism Week. During my first lecture on Tuesday, I discussed investment branding and was genuinely thankful for the engaging and smiling audience. The warmth of the audience was inspiring!

My second speech was on Thursday, April 18th, when I explored the fascinating topic of tourism branding in Mongolia. I arrived with few preconceptions, ready to form impressions not from stereotypes but from this vast country’s genuine charm and potential. The world should know much about Mongolia, and I am eager to contribute to its story.

This week, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Tourism Organization of Mongolia. As part of the DARS Consulting team, it is an honour to be involved in shaping the future tourism brand of a country as vibrant and promising as Mongolia.

With over two decades of experience in country branding, I am eager to bring my expertise to highlight Mongolia’s rich heritage and diverse natural landscapes. We aim to showcase the unique beauty of all four seasons—winter, spring, summer, and autumn—each offering distinct experiences that appeal to international tourists throughout the year.

Mongolia’s seasons are extraordinary, and our strategy will emphasise each one’s unique appeal to effectively attract our target audience. I am confident that with concerted efforts, Mongolia will soon see a significant increase in tourist arrivals, more international flights to its airports, and heightened interest from investors. The symbiotic relationship between investment potential and tourism is critical to this success.

I look forward to contributing to Mongolia’s journey towards becoming a distinguished destination on the global tourism map. All comments and ideas are welcome!
