For the third time, I will be moderating the Cities Mayors Forum “Global Silk Road”, which will take place on 18th November 2020 in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan’s capital.
Among speakers of the Forum mayors of Kazan (Russia), Lianyungang (China), Xi’an (China), Minsk (Belarus), Samarkand (Uzbekistan), Harbin (China), Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan).
Previous Cities Mayors Forum “Global Silk Road” took place on 17 May 2019. It was part of the Astana Economic Forum. As a moderator of that Forum, I had the pleasure of welcoming Heads and Deputy Heads of many City Administrations:
Mayor of Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan
Mayor of Lianyungang, China
Mayor of Tallinn, Estonia
Deputy Executive Director of Hong Kong Administration
Deputy Mayor of Moscow, Russia
Advisor to Mayor of Bangkok, Thailand
Advisor to Mayor of Florence, Italy
Deputy Mayor of Harbin, China
Deputy Mayor of Urumchi, China
Cities Mayors Forum “Global Silk Road” in 2019 was very special for me. During the Forum, together with the filming crew of DARS FILSM, we were compleating a TV commercial for the rebranding campaign of Nur-Sultan. Just two months after Kazakhstan’s capital city changed its name, we started to work on the SUNRISE IN NUR-SULTAN project. Initially, we produced a TV commercial in English and later on in Russian and Kazakh languages.
The first Forum of Mayors of Silk Road Cities in 2018 was the first and most complex. I am grateful to the Mayor of the capital of Kazakhstan Asset Orentaevich Issekeshev, for his help in moderating this Forum. He became my co-moderator. Today Asset Orentaevich Issekeshev is a Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan. His successor, Bakhyt Turlykhanovich Sultanov, became one of the speakers of the 2019 edition of the Forum.
We did not have much time but many topics to discuss with Asset Orentaevich Issekeshev, my co-moderator in 2018
During the first Forum (July 2-3, 2018), we were just working out its format, developing the Forum program in such a way that the topics went beyond the historical issues and became relevant for city leaders striving to be leaders in the rates of economic and social growth, building the future and preserving the legacy of the past.
Cities Mayors Forum “Global Silk Road” received big coverage in the international media. I will list just a few:
Global Times (China)
ANI, South Asia News Agency
Travel Daily News (Asia Pacific)
Holiday Guide, Middle East
Spanish Information Agency Agencia EFE.
I am grateful to my colleagues from the British studio DARS FILMS for preparing the presentation video of the Forum of Mayors of Silk Road Cities, which was broadcasted on BBC World News during the preparation period. Thanks to an international advertising campaign, the Forum has become truly international with a full-fledged two-day business program.
I will be happy to answer questions related to the already past Forums, but even more, I will be glad to start a dialogue about new Forums and their new formats.
