It was a great honour for me to be a moderator of the Kazakhstan Trade and Investment Forum at EXPO-2020 in Dubai. The Forum was held on the National Day of Kazakhstan at EXPO-2020.
The Forum was dedicated to the sustainable development of the two countries economies. The special significance of the Trade and Investment Forum of Kazakhstan is given by the fact that it is taking place on the eve of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the United Arab Emirates, on the eve of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the independence of Kazakhstan, on the Day of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Republic of Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates have much in common. Both countries have a particular attitude towards international trade. Dubai, for example, is a hub of world trade, while Kazakhstan is developing an international transit corridor linking Asia and Europe. Moreover, the China-Kazakhstan-Iran rail route creates the conditions for further trade growth from the Pacific coast to the Persian Gulf region.
A new impetus for cooperation between Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates was provided by the Agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the United Arab Emirates on establishing a long-term strategic partnership. Companies from the United Arab Emirates are already implementing more than 40 intergovernmental agreements and investment projects in Kazakhstan.
In times of pandemics, the expansion and strengthening of trade relations are a priority for developing national economies. Kazakhstan is a country of nomads. Kazakhstan knows how to create and value relationships. An investor in Kazakhstan is not just a source of income but an expensive guest.
I hope that Day of Kazakhstan at EXPO-2020 will become a year of Kazakhstan or even a decade for international investors.
